Discover Mussy
Mussy is a beautiful medieval village. For 5 centuries, it was the summer residence of the Langres Bishops, who were rich and powerful lords.
The collegiate church is an impressive gothic building where you can see numerous works of art from the 14th century Mussy sculpture workshop including the «founders´ tomb» and a beautiful statue of St John the Baptist.
As you wander along the picturesque streets of the village, you can admire many beautiful houses dating back to the 16th century including the salt attic, the Rabbi´s house and the Canon´s house. Along the Seine, you can visit the only tower left from the ramparts which used to surround the village and just outside Mussy, you can look down at the impressive glacier, a ten-metre deep 17th century «fridge»
During the 2nd world war, fierce battles took place in Mussy area as an important forest resistance group had settled here. The Resistance museum pays a tribute to these courageous soldiers and you may also go in the forest with a guide to hear their story, walking on their footprints.
